The village of Kfarsghab gave to the different monk orders an important number of its sons during the eighteenth and the nineteenth centuries.

This trend accelerated particularly from 1850 till 1870. The Lebanese Maronite Order attracted 43 out of the 60 monks originally from Kfarsghab due to the proximity and importance of the Monastery of Qozhaya, with however some of them joining the Antonine Maronite Order especially in the Monastery of Mar Sarkis Ehden.

Demographical pressure, combined with economic difficulties played a major role in those vocations. From 1880, emigration halted this movement. Still in 1900, 13 monks were reported in Kfarsghab. In this section, I will try to understand the reasons behind it.
