The village of Kfarsghab goes back at least to the Crusades era. Sources cites Kfarsghab as far as 1200 AD. Till the Eighteenth Century, Kfarsghab seems to have been a village of modest importance. It witnessed a dramatic economic and demographical development between 1750 and 1950.
In order to understand this development, I started a personal project centered on the study of the Eighteenth Century in Lebanon, Jebbet Bcharri and Kfarsghab. It is covering the period going from 1650 till 1850. This period could be divided into two : 1650-1750 called by me the Hamadeh period and 1750-1850 called the Sheikhs period.

Le village de Kfarsghab remonte au moins au temps des Croisades. Des sources citent Kfarsghab aussi loin que 1200. Jusqu'au milieu du dix-huitième siècle, Kfrarsghab semble avoir été un village modeste. Entre 1750 et 1950, il va connaître un développement économique et démographique important.
Souhaitant comprendre les raisons de ce développement, j'ai commencé l'étude du contexte économique, politique et social du Liban, de Jebbet Bcharri et de Kfarsghab au 18ème siècle. L'étude couvre la période 1650-1850, qui sera divisée en deux périodes : 1650-1750 que j'appellerai Période des Hamadeh et 1750-1850, Période des Cheikhs.
